John F. Guay recently joined Potomac Patent Group PLLC as a patent agent. John has over fourteen years of experience in the patent field.
Prior to joining Potomac Patent Group, John was affiliated with a national general practice law firm and a large patent boutique. John brings with him years of experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in such technological areas as semiconductor device and fabrication, MEMS devices, nano-sized devices and materials, optics, digital and analog communication systems, digital logic, digital signal processing, and computer hardware and software.
John has prepared and prosecuted a wide variety of applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, including utility, reexamination, reissue, and PCT applications. In addition, he has assisted in directing prosecution of counterpart applications in South America, Asia, and Europe. John also assisted with the training of new associates.
Before becoming an agent, John worked for the United States Patent and Trademark Office, serving as both an examiner and primary examiner of applications related to solid-state technology.
After leaving the Patent Office, John was awarded the Department of Commerce Bronze Medal for superior federal service in 2000.
John received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park.
John is registered to practice before the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office.
